The National Initiative for Children's Healthcare Quality (NICHQ) has again partnered with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and their Quality Improvement Innovation Network (QuIIN) to develop an updated ADHD toolkit for use by primary care clinicians based on the newly revised AAP ADHD guidelines which include an expanded scope of ages from 4 to 18 years. Previously, this partnership created the first version of the ADHD toolkit in 2002.
NICHQ and QuIIN are currently in the final stages of revision to the toolkit, and continue to test and update content based on clinical expert advice and participating project team member recommendations, which serve to ensure the best product possible. The toolkit will also provide a valuable resource to both parents and the patient to improve the understanding of, and the best treatment for, children living with ADHD.
The final toolkit, due to be released by the AAP in 2011, will be clinically current, address usability issues identified with previous guidelines, and tackle gaps not identified in the prior toolkit. All content will be carefully evaluated by the AAP ADHD Oversight Committee to be approved and finalized for publication and dissemination.
