SERIES: An Integrated Approach to Supporting Child Development
From the PolicyLab’s Translating Evidence-based Developmental Screening (TEDS) project
To promote a more coordinated approach to meeting children’s developmental needs, the brief proposes the adoption of the SERIES paradigm of developmental screening in which each step—Screening, Early identification, Referral, Intake, Evaluation and eligibility, and Services—is seen not as an isolated activity, but rather an integral component of a single process. It then identifies four major barriers to providing coordinated developmental care for children and identifies a policy or practice response to each. The SERIES brief responds to the finding that although developmental screening of children in primary care has increased, many children with identified developmental needs are never linked to the services they need

Purpose of MHLN Conferences
The statewide invitational MHLN conferences provide an opportunity for county-based MHLN team members and state and national medical home partners to learn from and network with each other about how to promote and support medical homes for children with special health care needs. The MHLN conference is based on needs assessments with team members to identify the topics that will be most useful to them in their team and other medical home roles.
